How To Cook The Perfect Steak Indoors
Ask most people how to cook the perfect steak and the first step they will tell you is to drag out the grill. However cooking steaks indoors is an equally tasty way to prepare a steak.
How do I cook steak in the oven stove?
To prepare steak in the oven; you will need to broil it. Broiling steak is a great way to have a steak and eat healthy at the same time. If you use a broiler pan, you will make the steak even healthier. A broiler pan has two parts. The top resembles a cookie sheet or tray with holes in it. The second component goes under the top tray and catches any fat and drippings produced as the steak cooks. Broiling wicks away fat from the meat so it is not consumed (eaten). You save calories and fat; but still have a delicious steak.
You can also cook the perfect steak in a skillet on the stove top as well. You can use a heavy skillet with a lid and cook your steak directly over the stove burner.
How well your steak is after you cook it; depends greatly on the cut of meat you use to start with. Some cuts of steak that cook well and give you a tender juicy steak when done include:
Rib eye.
A favorite among steak lovers, rib eye cuts have nice ribbons of fat marbled through them that give great flavor to the meat.
T-bone.
This is a hearty cut of meat with plenty of flavor. A New York Strip Steak is made by removing the bone of the T-bone.
Porterhouse.
Some steak fans consider this to be the premium of steaks. This cut of steak is known for its large size.
Fillet Mignon.
Consider to be the most tender (and expensive) of steaks. A beef has very few of these fillets after it is processed. The tenderloins strap that runs along the sides of the cow’s spine is where this cut comes from. Since this portion of the cow does not experience a great deal of movement while the cow is in the pasture, the result is a tender cut of meat.
Less expensive cuts of meat can produce a good steak when prepared correctly as well. While round steak is usually not the best steak to grill; sirloin steak can produce a nice steak for less money and you do not need cooking courses to cook it. Cooking sirloin steak can prove challenging if you do not take your time. A sirloin steak needs to be cooked slower, and may need to be tenderized slightly before cooking. You can tenderize a sirloin steak additionally by applying a steak seasoning tenderizer or marinade.
How you season your steak is another secret to cooking a steak. You should choose seasoning that enhance the steak flavor and do not cover it up. Seasonings such as garlic, salt, blackening and pepper; all make good steak seasonings. Seasoning is not required though; and many people choose to prepare their steak without their aid; leaving the steak to speak for itself. Of course if you want to cook the perfect steak you will need to know how well done you like the best.
